Job Summary

Ascension Illinois is seeking a skilled Polysomnographic Technologist to join our team. As a Polysomnographic Technologist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic sleep studies, preparing patients and equipment for testing, and interpreting results. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and compassionate healthcare environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform basic and advanced diagnostic sleep studies
  • Prepare patient and equipment for ordered testing
  • Interview patient to determine sleep disorder issues and to explain testing procedures
  • Perform and document testing
  • Monitor patient throughout testing and intervene as necessary to resolve patient needs or equipment issues
  • Collect, analyze and integrate patient information to identify and meet patient-specific needs; score, interpret and report results of sleep studies
  • Prepare, calibrate, repair and maintain equipment required for testing
  • Determine and report needed repairs/replacements
Requirements
  • Licensure / Certification / Registration:
    • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
    • One or more of the following:
      • Cert Polysomnographic Tech credentialed from the Board of Registered Polysomnograhic Technologists (BRPT) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
      • Reg Polysomnographic Tchnlgst credentialed from the Board of Registered Polysomnograhic Technologists (BRPT) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
      • Respiratory Care Practitioner obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
      • Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
      • Sleep Technician credentialed from the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Education:
    • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
