Finance Development Program Overview

AbbVie's Finance Development Program (FDP) is a two-year rotational program designed to prepare you for financial management roles. The program consists of four rotations, each lasting six months, which will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of AbbVie's finance functions.

Program Objectives:

  • Develop exceptional functional and leadership traits
  • Gain exposure to different leaders in the company
  • Work on a wide range of projects to develop technical and business skills

Functional Areas:

Commercial

Commercial Finance provides global leadership, guidance, and financial support to AbbVie's Commercial operations, including the Allergan Aesthetics business. This organization forecasts for our key brands in Immunology, Oncology, or Neuroscience and Eye Care.

Operations

Operations Finance provides leadership and guidance to Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Purchasing, and various other support functions related to financial planning and internal management reporting.

Research & Development

R&D Finance supports AbbVie's Research & Development (R&D) activities with a primary focus on pipeline compounds in development, beginning from target and molecule discovery to human clinical study conduct to filing for regulatory approvals in markets around the world.

Corporate

Corporate Finance includes Accounting, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Finance Shared Services, Internal Audit, Investor Relations, Tax, and Treasury.

Qualifications:

  • Must have completed a bachelor's degree in finance and/or accounting, with an expected graduation date between December 2024 and June 2025
  • Successful completion of at least three accounting courses (each with 3 credit hours) by the time of graduation, with one of the courses being focused on cost or managerial accounting
  • Proven capability to effectively communicate within work and/or academic environments, adapting messaging to suit diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated utilization of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in both academic and professional settings
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within a school or student organization setting
  • Willingness to relocate outside of Lake County, IL for 1 to 2 six-month rotations
