Job Summary

The Commercial Loan Assistant provides critical support to the Commercial Relationship Manager(s) and their large portfolio(s). Key responsibilities include managing loans from setup to post-closing and responding to customer service requests.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the workflow process to ensure loans move through the pipeline efficiently, assisting the RM with loan requests, submissions, and processing.
  • Process payments for purchased and sold participation loans, as well as draws if applicable.
  • Act as liaison between customers, RM, Loan Processing, and outside vendors for ongoing loan matters.
  • Clear loan exceptions on all closed loans, assisting the RM with maturities, past due loans, evidence of insurance, and financial tracking.
  • Acquire knowledge of the Bank's processing systems for Business Lending and Commercial Lending.
  • Process line of credit, commercial construction, builder line, and A&D draw requests in accordance with the Bank's approved policy and procedures.
  • Obtain and review supporting documentation for loans prior to closing, including financial reporting requirements, organizational documents, lien searches, and insurance types.
  • Initiate appraisal process through Appraisal management and flood determinations.
  • Answer phone calls and assist loan officers, other bank employees, and customers with various issues.
  • Fill in for other team members when necessary, coordinating with the RM(s) and Processor(s).
  • Fulfill all necessary training and run reports as needed.
  • Perform Notary acts as required and complete special projects/duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 5 years of loan processing and documentation experience in a business or commercial banking environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of lending principles and the loan cycle.
Skills
  • Organizational skills and detail-orientation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) and navigating the internet.
  • Experience with typical office equipment.
Abilities
  • Read and understand various reports, spreadsheets, and forms.
  • Effectively communicate information clearly through all media channels.
  • Interact effectively with clients and Bank employees at all levels.
  • Handle several tasks simultaneously and work under time limits.
Education

High School diploma or equivalent required. AIB or college courses strongly preferred. An associate or bachelor's degree desired.

Work Environment

Work is performed in an operational office environment.
