Position Overview
The Senior Taxation Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the Managing Director of Tax in ensuring the efficient delivery of tax advantages linked to the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit ("LIHTC") initiative for Investors. This role also involves addressing any IRS and State income tax matters as they arise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Thorough examination of multi-state, multi-tier partnership tax filings, which includes property-owning partnerships and fund-level tax returns, focusing on contributions, distributions, allocation of tax items, special allocations, first-year credit calculations, depreciation assessments, and sales of partnership interests or assets. This process necessitates a review of partnership agreements, audits, general ledgers, and associated documentation.
  • Collaborate with tax return preparers to resolve any discrepancies identified in the filings.
  • Prepare pass-through documentation (K-1 Summary) encompassing state apportionment, withholding, and exemptions for the funds.
  • Guarantee the prompt and precise delivery of tax documents to Investors.
  • Oversee the timely submission and mailing of federal and state tax returns.
  • Assist in analyzing partner capital accounts.
  • Respond to and track notices from the IRS or other tax authorities.
  • Coordinate tax payments and extension processes.
  • Undertake additional duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in finance or accounting is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of tax experience is required.
  • Experience with LIHTC or real estate is preferred.
  • Knowledge of partnerships and experience in preparing partnership tax returns is preferred.
  • Familiarity with multi-state filings is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and adhere to deadlines.
  • Proficient in identifying issues, collecting and analyzing data, and drawing logical conclusions.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills are essential.
  • Willingness to work extended hours as necessary.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including Excel and MS Office.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.
  • Requires an independent thinker who is detail-oriented and can work collaboratively within a team, demonstrating knowledge of accounting practices.
  • Must exhibit strong writing capabilities and a desire to learn and develop professionally.
Compensation and Benefits
We are dedicated to providing competitive and fair compensation. The salary range for this position typically falls between $68,000 and $102,000, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. This role is also eligible for a performance-based bonus. Salaries will be determined based on various factors, including geographic location, skills, education, licenses, certifications, and experience. We also emphasize the importance of pay equity, considering both internal and external factors in every final offer. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive total compensation and benefits package.
