Job Title: Phlebotomist
Job Summary:
As a Phlebotomist at HexaQuEST Health, Inc., you will play a vital role in the laboratory by collecting blood samples from patients and facilitating the flow of specimens. You will also be responsible for completing patient clerical information and performing various clerical duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain venous blood samples as required, ensuring accuracy and following established policies.
- Prepare blood samples for analysis in the laboratory and send outs to reference labs, verifying sample labels and alerting technologists to test abnormalities.
- Accommodate STAT orders and other requests, responding promptly and maintaining accurate records.
- Log specimens into the Laboratory Information System, prepare report forms, and process charges, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain venipuncture supplies, requisition replacements, and perform inventory and supply stocking, ensuring adequate levels and timely ordering.
- Chart reports on inpatients and deliver or mail outpatient reports to referring physicians, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Assist others in completing work assignments, responding positively to changes in the work schedule and using time to department advantage.
- Follow designated infection control procedures, washing hands before and after each patient contact and between tests.
- Perform miscellaneous clerical duties, consistently and accurately logging information and filing reports.

As a Phlebotomist at HexaQuEST Health, Inc., you are expected to:
- Learns new procedures and accepts new assignments within reasonable timeframes.
- Maintains an awareness of changes in policies, procedures, and protocol.
- Arrives on time and prepared to start assignment.
- Does not abuse paid time off.
- Maintains universal precautions.
- Attends department and other meetings as required.
- Complies with Hospital confidentiality, safety, infection control, and exposure control policies.
- Assists patients with courtesy regardless of age, gender, nationality, and disability without prejudice or bias.
- Complies with all policies and procedures as outlined in the adopted Policy and Procedures manual.
- Wears I.D. badge.
- Has completed mandatory safety and security education, including annual fire/safety and hazardous materials review.
- Demonstrates correct use of fire extinguisher.
- Complies with annual physical examination as required.

As a Phlebotomist at HexaQuEST Health, Inc., you are expected to:
- Complies with the Hospital's twelve customer service standards.
- Establishes and maintains a cooperative relationship with patients, staff, and other individuals.
