Position Overview

South Central Power Company, a leading electric cooperative, is on the lookout for two qualified candidates to take on the role of Fiber In-Home Technician. This position is crucial for the effective delivery of our fiber services.

The primary responsibilities include the installation and maintenance of fiber to the premises (FTTP) services. This encompasses home setups, regular maintenance, and urgent troubleshooting tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with customers to ensure proper routing and installation of fiber devices and outlets.
  • Perform disconnects, reconnects, and service upgrades as needed.
  • Integrate company services with customer equipment, ensuring proper connection and setup of devices.
  • Participate in on-call duties during emergency situations as required.
  • Verify and document signal quality and levels to meet required specifications.
  • Troubleshoot advanced service issues when remote diagnostics are insufficient.
  • Educate customers about our services and equipment, including access to technical support and additional offerings.
  • Maintain an organized vehicle and stock necessary materials for daily operations.
  • Document all work performed, including work orders and service reports, and communicate any challenges to supervisors for efficient scheduling.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, along with experience in residential fiber optic or wiring installation.
  • Familiarity with basic hand and power tools is essential.
  • Basic knowledge of computer systems to install, connect, and demonstrate systems for remote viewing via mobile devices.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are mandatory.
