Residential Fiber Optic Technician

South Central Power Company, a leading electric cooperative, is on the lookout for two dedicated individuals to take on the role of Fiber In-Home Technician. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring high-quality fiber service delivery.

The Fiber In-Home Technician will be responsible for:

• Conducting maintenance and installation of fiber to the premises (FTTP) services.
• Performing home installations, routine maintenance, and urgent troubleshooting.
• Collaborating with customers to effectively plan the installation of fiber devices and outlets.
• Executing disconnects, reconnects, and service upgrades as needed.
• Integrating company services with customer equipment, ensuring proper setup and connectivity.
• Participating in on-call duties during emergency situations.

Other responsibilities include:

• Verifying and documenting signal quality and levels to meet required specifications.
• Troubleshooting complex service issues when remote assistance is insufficient.
• Providing customers with information on services and equipment, including technical support options.
• Managing inventory and maintaining a clean and organized service vehicle.
• Keeping accurate records of work performed, including service orders and inventory management.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• A high school diploma or equivalent, along with experience in residential fiber optic installation.
• Proficiency with basic hand and power tools.
• Basic computer skills to install and maintain systems, including remote viewing capabilities.
• A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
