Sustainability Waste Coordinator - Shift Hours Vary
Compensation - $19.00 per hour
POSITION OVERVIEW
Pritchard Industries is seeking a dedicated Sustainability Waste Coordinator. In this role, you will be tasked with the collection, categorization, and management of waste produced within our facilities. As a key player in our sustainability initiative, you will ensure adherence to our zero-waste objectives.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
The Sustainability Waste Coordinator will report directly to the Sustainability Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the collection team in transporting waste to designated sorting areas throughout your shift.
- Accurately categorize waste into distinct streams: (1) landfill, (2) compostables (food items, packaging, utensils, etc.), (3) recyclables (bottles and cans), (4) cardboard, (5) mixed paper, (6) glass, among others.
- Participate in comprehensive training to understand the sorting process effectively.
- Ensure that all items within each waste bag are opened and examined prior to sorting.
- Complete a mandatory checklist at the end of each shift to ensure all tasks are fulfilled.
- After events, coordinate the disposal of waste to various locations based on its category (e.g., compost, recyclables, landfill).
- Completion of zero-waste training and certification is required prior to event participation.
- Performance will be evaluated based on sorting efficiency and adherence to zero-waste guidelines.
- Maintain low contamination rates in waste streams.
- Ability to follow supervisor instructions and complete assigned tasks effectively.
- Physical capability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform tasks that require bending, kneeling, and lifting.
- Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions.
- Reliable transportation is necessary.
- Experience in janitorial or cleaning roles is advantageous.
- Prior experience in waste sorting is beneficial.
- Knowledge of recycling and landfill processes is a plus.
- Bilingual candidates (Spanish/English) are encouraged to apply.
