Job Overview

Under the supervision of the Crew Leader, the Batch Production Operator is responsible for the precise compounding of materials in a batch processing setting. This role requires adherence to detailed instructions and established procedures to ensure timely production within specified quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure timely and quality production of materials.

  • Fulfill daily production targets by adhering to the established production schedule.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on assigned equipment, performing necessary inspections before, during, and after batch processing. Report any potential contamination, mechanical issues, or safety concerns to the Production Manager immediately.
  • Prepare for compounding by accurately locating and verifying raw materials and supplies as per the batch ticket. Communicate any shortages to the Crew Leader or Materials Department.
  • Follow batch ticket instructions meticulously to produce high-quality products.
  • Record raw material usage on the batch ticket to maintain accurate documentation.
  • Document all relevant information, including discrepancies in materials, processing steps, and temperature variations, on the batch ticket.
  • Deliver labeled batch samples to the Quality Control Laboratory as required.
  • Package products in totes, drums, and pails according to packaging ticket instructions once the batch is approved.
  • Manage the reintroduction or remixing of materials in mixers based on Quality Control batch ticket guidelines.

Workplace Maintenance

  • Uphold a clean and safe working environment by adhering to standard housekeeping practices.
  • Secure hoses and plumbing fittings when not in use.
  • Store all operating supplies, including raw materials and containers, in designated areas before the end of the shift.
  • Dispose of empty raw material containers and packaging before the end of the shift.
  • Ensure equipment is free from raw material residue and chemicals.
  • Perform cleaning duties, including sweeping and mopping work areas as necessary.
  • Return cleaning equipment to its designated storage area after use.

Safety Protocols

  • Maintain a safe work environment by following the established safety rules and guidelines as outlined in the Employee Safety Handbook and company policies.
  • Ensure respirator certification is maintained through required physicals and fit tests.

Additional Responsibilities

  1. Participate in physical inventory and cycle counting activities.
  2. Assist with maintenance tasks as needed.
  3. Support shipping operations, including loading and unloading trucks.
  4. Contribute to team efforts by assisting in various areas as required.
  5. Train designated personnel on compounding procedures as necessary.
  6. Engage in safety and loss control investigations as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

  1. High School diploma or G.E.D.
  2. Experience in a related field is preferred.
  3. Forklift operation experience is advantageous.
  4. Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record.

Required Skills

  1. Mechanical aptitude with practical application skills.
  2. Strong analytical abilities.
  3. Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  4. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  5. Basic mathematical skills.
  6. Ability to follow directions accurately.

Physical Requirements

  1. Position involves significant physical activity.
  2. Routine bending, stooping, climbing stairs, and reaching are required.
  3. Ability to lift and carry materials weighing 50 pounds or more.
  4. Manual dexterity is necessary for operating tools and machinery.

Work Environment

This role is performed in a manufacturing plant where temperatures may fluctuate due to external conditions and frequent door openings. Noise levels can be elevated due to machinery and general activity within the facility. Employees may encounter moving mechanical parts, fumes, and potentially hazardous materials during their duties.

Supervision

Works under the guidance of the Crew Leader or Production Manager, collaborating closely with Quality Control Technicians, Research and Development personnel, and other management staff as necessary.

Compensation: $21 - $24 per hour

Schedule: 2nd Shift 4:30 PM - 3:00 AM, Monday to Friday
