The role of a Quality Inspector is crucial in verifying the quality and adherence of products or components across various sectors. This position entails inspecting, testing, and assessing products against set quality benchmarks to detect any flaws or discrepancies. The Quality Inspector is tasked with upholding high product standards, following quality control protocols, and contributing to ongoing improvement initiatives.

Essential Requirements:

Must possess CMM experience along with CMM programming skills.

Key Responsibilities of the Quality Inspector:

  • Interpret blueprints, specifications, and guidelines to ascertain the quality criteria for the product.
  • Conduct comprehensive visual inspections and measurements of products, materials, or components utilizing various tools and instruments. Ensure compliance with established quality specifications and standards.
  • Execute and document First-Article, In-process, and Final Inspections, relay necessary adjustments to production teams, and authorize finished products for shipment.
  • Carry out functional tests, durability assessments, or other specialized evaluations as required. Record and analyze test data to pinpoint deviations or defects. Ensure accurate documentation of test results.
  • Identify and log any defects, deviations, or non-conformities in products or materials. Classify defects based on severity and take appropriate actions, such as marking or quarantining items.
  • Maintain thorough records of inspection and testing activities, including test reports, inspection logs, and non-conformance documentation. Ensure all records are precise and current.
  • Guarantee that products comply with industry standards, company specifications, and applicable regulations. Stay updated on changes in quality standards and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with production teams to provide immediate feedback on quality issues and work collectively to address and resolve quality concerns swiftly.
  • Engage in quality enhancement initiatives by proposing process improvements, efficiency enhancements, or modifications to prevent recurring quality issues.
  • Ensure that inspection equipment and tools are properly calibrated and maintained. Report any equipment malfunctions or calibration discrepancies.
  • Communicate quality concerns with suppliers when necessary and assist in resolving supplier-related quality issues.
  • Generate regular quality reports and convey quality metrics to management. Provide updates on the status of quality-related activities and any corrective actions undertaken.

Qualifications for the Quality Inspector:

  • A degree in engineering or a related field is preferred, though technical or vocational training in quality assurance will also be considered.
  • 2-5 years of experience in quality inspection or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in utilizing measurement tools, gauges, and equipment.
  • Familiarity with GD&T (ASME).
  • Understanding of welding symbols.
  • Experience in preparing AS9102B First Article Inspection Reports.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and quality management systems (ISO 9001 & AS9100).
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a strong commitment to upholding high-quality standards.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work independently.
  • Familiarity with quality control processes and methodologies, including Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen, is preferred.
