Job Summary

The Village of Schaumburg is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Police Auxiliary Officer. As a non-sworn employee, you will play a vital part in supporting the police department's efforts to maintain public safety and order.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform traffic control, parking enforcement, and special event duties as assigned.
  • Provide front desk services, including answering inquiries, completing reports, and assisting with various functions.
  • Support the crime-free multi-housing program by facilitating landlord seminars, conducting CPTED assessments, and participating in resident crime prevention socials.
  • Perform detention facility duties, including processing, searching, and monitoring prisoners.
  • Inspect police vehicles for proper equipment and report any damage.
  • Respond to citizen requests for vehicle lock-out service and perform functions associated with installation and removal of Denver boot equipment.
  • Utilize technology to assist with calls for service and proactively monitor systems for criminal or suspicious activity.
Requirements
  • Education equivalent to a high school diploma.
  • A minimum of one year of customer service-related experience.
  • CPR certification preferred or ability to obtain within six months from the date of hire.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Proficiency with current computer technology, job-specific software, and customer service systems.

Selection Process

Candidate screening process may consist of an application review, skills testing, employability assessment, interviews, reference checks, and other job-related testing or verifications. Chosen candidates will be subject to a background and criminal history investigation, and qualifying pre-employment medical examination and drug screen (including cannabis).
