About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accountant to join our team at Barrick Gold. As an Accountant, you will play a critical role in supporting the completion of accounting duties, preparing general journal entries, reviewing costs for completeness and accuracy, and facilitating the preparation of budgets and forecasts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Cost Accounting: Analyze and review costs for completeness and accuracy, and identify areas for cost reduction and process improvement.
  • Financial Analysis: Prepare and analyze financial models, forecasts, and budgets to support business decisions and identify areas for improvement.
  • Accounting Systems: Maintain and update accounting systems, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required; Master's degree in Accounting or MBA preferred.
  • Experience: One to three years prior related experience, accounting internship, or demonstrated initiative preferred for Accountant I; three to six years prior related experience preferred for Accountant II.
  • Skills: Strong technical accounting skills, understanding of accounting concepts, and comprehension of business-related implications required; proficient with Microsoft Office required.
  • Personal Qualities: Ability to stay organized, efficient, analytical, and to pay close attention to detail required; excellent team player with the ability to work with staff accountants, mine sites, executives, and other departments personnel/cross-functional teams required.
