Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Part-time Lecturer AY, Theatre Arts in Technical Theatre to join our team at Sonoma State University. The successful candidate will teach courses in Technical Theatre, including Costumes, Design Aesthetics, Drafting/Rendering, Lighting, Scenery, Sound, Stagecraft, Stage Management, Senior Projects, and/or Technical Theatre-based General Education courses.

Responsibilities
  • Teach courses in Technical Theatre, including Costumes, Design Aesthetics, Drafting/Rendering, Lighting, Scenery, Sound, Stagecraft, Stage Management, Senior Projects, and/or Technical Theatre-based General Education courses.
  • Design and teach courses that align with the department's curriculum and goals.
  • Develop and implement assessments and evaluations to measure student learning outcomes.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to students, including advising and academic support.
  • Participate in departmental and university service, including committee work and professional development.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Theatre/Theatre Arts or a related field.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience teaching theatre arts at the undergraduate level.
  • Strong teaching and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching and learning.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Theatre/Theatre Arts or a related field.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment.
  • Strong background in Technical Theatre, including design, production, and management.
  • Experience with teaching online or hybrid courses.
