OFS, a leading manufacturer of optical fiber, cable and apparatus, is seeking an Environmental Health Specialist to support our fiber manufacturing facility in Georgia. This role will play a critical part in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for our employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interact with regulatory agencies to address citations, notices of violation, and other compliance matters.
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce injury rates and improve compliance through trend analyses and metrics reports.
  • Analyze and improve the effectiveness of our Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs.
  • Provide EHS-related training to location managers and associates as needed.
  • Conduct root cause investigations of OSHA recordable injuries and near misses.
  • Perform daily safety inspections of all buildings, documenting findings.
  • Maintain and post proper Safety signage throughout the facility.
  • Report significant findings to the EH&S Manager on a daily basis.
  • Update and develop written safety programs, conduct monthly Safety Committee Meetings, and investigate employee health and safety concerns.
  • Perform Safety Orientations for new-hires.
  • Coordinate safety training for applicable employees to meet annual and intermittent requirements.

Requirements:

  • Generally, 2-5 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 2-4 years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years' experience in the EHS or related field.
