The Position

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as the President and General Manager of KUOW. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for public media, a proven track record of leadership, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The President and General Manager will be responsible for providing overall vision, leadership, and strategic direction for KUOW, including its content, programming, personnel, and operations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Build and lead a high-performing executive team and staff, fostering a culture of innovation, experimentation, and deep commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  2. Develop and implement comprehensive plans for audience and revenue growth through digital media innovation, ensuring KUOW's continued service excellence and financial stability.
  3. Establish and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, including the University of Washington, PSPR Board of Directors, community partners, donors, volunteers, and external interested parties.
  4. Serve as a passionate catalyst for collaboratively shaping and articulating an exciting vision for KUOW's next phase of dynamic growth and impact in a rapidly changing media landscape.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to the mission and values of KUOW, as well as the following qualifications and skill sets:

  • A minimum of nine years of successful senior-level leadership experience in an organization with similar or larger complexity and size.
  • Strong understanding of digital media and innovation related to content distribution and digital fundraising.
  • Strong cultural competence with a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
