Role Summary:

As a Medical Technologist II, you will be responsible for conducting laboratory analyses of human biological specimens for diagnostic objectives utilizing a variety of techniques.

Your responsibilities will encompass operating advanced automated systems for chemistry, immunoassay, hematology, and coagulation, as well as performing various clinical laboratory tests through both automated and manual methodologies.

You will also engage in the integration of automated instruments with the laboratory information system (LIS), participating in tasks related to LIS such as test configurations and dictionary management.


Additionally, you will contribute to the overall upkeep of the laboratory environment, which includes procuring supplies, maintaining equipment, and adhering to all laboratory protocols and regulations.

Your duties will include thorough documentation associated with laboratory testing, encompassing result reporting and quality control records.


Collaboration with fellow technologists in the development of tests as outlined by the laboratory director will be expected, along with recommendations for updates to laboratory procedure manuals.

You will assist the Supervisor with scheduling, monitoring staff, managing inventory, ordering reagents, performing calibrations, and conducting preventive maintenance for complex testing.

Participation in the formulation and revision of standard operating procedures for the Core Lab, proficiency testing survey submissions, and evaluations for the medical director will also be part of your role. Furthermore, you will aid in the training of new personnel and Medical Technologist students.

Compensation:
The starting salary is set at $34.70 per hour.

Essential Qualifications:

Must hold a valid or temporary license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the designated specialty areas as per Chapter 483, Florida Statutes, along with two years of relevant experience.


Desirable Qualifications:
Possession of a Clinical Laboratory Technologist license in Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, and Serology under Chapter 483, Florida Statutes.

Certification as (MT) Medical Laboratory Technologist/(MLS) Medical Laboratory Scientist MT/MLS (ASCP), MT (AMT), or MT (AAB) in Hematology and Chemistry Coagulation is required. Additional sub-specialties beyond Hematology and Chemistry are preferred.


  • Prior experience in Clinical Laboratory settings focusing on Clinical Chemistry, Immunology, Hematology, and Coagulation.
  • Capability to plan, organize, coordinate, and execute laboratory testing efficiently.
  • Proficiency in employing problem-solving techniques within the laboratory environment.
  • Effective communication skills with fellow technologists and supervisors.
  • Aptitude for data collection and analysis.
  • Understanding and application of relevant rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
