This position offers a unique opportunity to work in the Office of Classification and Export Control (OCEC) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), where you will be responsible for safeguarding critical information across various programs, including Strategic Deterrence, Global Security, and cutting-edge Science and Technology disciplines. As a Deputy Classification Officer and Classification Advisor, you will play a key role in shaping the landscape of our security protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement policies, procedures, and standards for the generation, marking, handling, storage, reproduction, transmission, destruction, and accountability of classified matter.
  • Mentor Derivative Classifiers (DCs), Reviewing Officials (ROs), and Laboratory staff in support of compliance with LLNL Classification and Export Control policies and procedures.
  • Research and develop strategic technical guidance and collaborate with government officials in the development of classification bulletins to meet DOE requirements.
  • Serve on scientific or technical external committees representing the organization as primary technical contact, interacting with government sponsors.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must have an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top-Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at time of hire. You should also possess a Master's degree in technical fields such as physics, chemistry, materials science, engineering, or related fields, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience. A recognized subject matter expert in one or more scientific or technical areas of development, with significant experience working as a classification advisor or senior derivative classifier is required.
