**Job Summary**
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Pastry Chef to join our team at Hill Country Restaurants, Inc. as a key member of our culinary operations.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Prepare a wide variety of baked goods, such as cakes, cookies, pies, and bread, following traditional and modern recipes.
- Create new and exciting desserts to renew our menus and engage the interest of our customers.
- Decorate pastries using different icings, toppings, and presentation techniques to ensure a visually appealing and exciting dining experience.
- Monitor inventory levels for baking ingredients, such as flour, sugar, and other essential supplies, and make appropriate orders within budget.
- Inspect the quality of materials and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Guide and motivate pastry assistants and bakers to work efficiently and effectively.
- Identify staffing needs and assist in recruiting and training personnel to support our culinary operations.
- Maintain a clean and organized cooking station, adhering to health and safety standards and company policies.
**Requirements**
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef, baker, or relevant role in a similar culinary environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and creativity in developing new recipes and presentation styles.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills to manage a team and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Willingness to continuously update professional knowledge and skills to stay current with industry trends and best practices.
- In-depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation, baking techniques, and nutrition to ensure a safe and healthy dining experience.
- Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations, such as gluten-free, sugarless, and other dietary restrictions.
- Ability to follow established recipes and procedures, and to adapt to changing menu items and customer preferences.
