New York, New York, United States Jane Street Full time
About the Program

We're committed to providing a comprehensive and engaging experience for our interns. Our goal is to give you a real sense of what it's like to work at Jane Street full time.

Throughout the internship, you'll have the opportunity to explore ways to approach and solve exciting problems within your field of interest through interactive sessions, group discussions, and hands-on projects. You'll also have the chance to put your new skills to practical use and collaborate with full-time employees on real-world projects.

As an intern, you'll be paired with experienced mentors who will guide you through the program and provide valuable feedback. You'll also have access to our office amenities, physical and virtual educational resources, and social events.

We're looking for individuals with a curious mind, a collaborative spirit, and a passion for solving interesting problems. If you're interested in learning more about our FPGA Engineering work and how we use programming language technology to improve the process of designing, testing, and validating hardware designs, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Position

In this internship, you'll learn how we use tools to make programming faster, more pleasant, and more reliable. You'll gain hands-on experience with Hardcaml, an OCaml library for succinctly describing hardware in RTL, and explore the libraries and tools that are foundational to our internal systems.

No previous knowledge of Hardcaml is required. During the program, you'll dive deep on one project, mentored closely by the full-time employees who helped design it. You'll have the opportunity to build FPGA applications from concept to a working design, predominantly involving OCaml & Hardcaml, for both RTL design and testing/integration.

If you're interested in learning more, you can read about our interview process, meet some of our newest hires, or check out our OCaml All The Way Down talk and Programmable Hardware podcast episode.

About You

We're not looking for specific backgrounds or experience. We're interested in smart people who enjoy solving interesting problems and are eager to learn. If you're comfortable with software programming languages, have experience with Hardware Description languages, and are interested in learning how to use FPGAs in the context of networking, we'd love to hear from you.

We expect our interns to be comfortable working in a collaborative environment, be willing to learn and take on new challenges, and have a passion for solving interesting problems. If you're interested in starting full-time employment in 2026, we'd love to hear from you.
