Purpose of the Job Class
The Police Enforcement Officer is responsible for maintaining law and order, protecting individuals and property, and enforcing laws within the jurisdiction. This role requires a high level of physical fitness, excellent communication skills, and the ability to make quick decisions in emergency situations.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain visibility and presence in public areas to deter crime and provide a sense of security;
  • Respond to emergencies, such as fires, medical calls, and disturbances, and take appropriate action;
  • Investigate crimes, gather evidence, and interview witnesses;
  • Enforce traffic laws and regulations, issue citations and warnings, and operate police vehicles;
  • Provide assistance to the public, including directing traffic, providing information, and mediating disputes;
  • Participate in community policing initiatives, build relationships with local residents, and address quality-of-life issues.

Working Conditions
This position requires working in various environments, including extreme temperatures, inclement weather, and hazardous situations. Incumbents must be physically fit, have good vision and hearing, and be able to wear personal protective equipment. Shift work, overtime, and call-backs are required.
