Job Summary

The Dean of Student Care and Basic Needs will provide strategic leadership and administrative management for holistic care coordination and social support programs at Dallas College. This role will develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate programs to ensure the delivery, organization, and elevation of these programs are equitable and aligned with the College's goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and functional responsibility for the strategic planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of a multifaceted college-wide social services program.
  • Monitor research and current behavioral trends affecting college students and assess and evaluate all related operations, policies, and programs to ensure mission compliance, student impact, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Ensure an integrated approach to housing and homelessness, food insecurity, wellness, prevention, education, and outreach through the Dallas College Student Basic Needs and Community Connections program.
  • Implement and leverage technology platforms to support the student care network, including Maxient, Sales Force, CARE TEAM, and Emergency Response Team.
  • Guide and oversee campus-wide harm reduction programming, student success, and intervention strategies.
  • Support and advocate for students who experience crisis and intervene directly in highly sensitive cases involving critical threats to mind and body.
  • Develop co-curricular programming to reduce inappropriate behaviors and increase positive behaviors by students.
  • Collaborate with community partners to support, develop, and promote initiatives, programming, and outreach directed toward students' wellbeing.
  • Develop strategic collaborative partnerships with external and internal stakeholders to ensure strategic integration of holistic wellness programs, initiatives, and services.
  • Oversee the College CARE Teams and coordinate and facilitate monthly communication meetings with Student Success Leadership on assigned campus.
  • Maintain administrative oversight for the Basic Needs and Community Connections and Care Coordination budgets, monitors, and controls expenditures consistent with the College's strategic priorities.
Requirements
  • Master's degree required (earned doctorate preferred) in higher education, counseling/student services or related field as confirmed by official transcripts.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible management and supervisory experience in one or more areas of student services.
  • Three (3) years upper level administrative/supervisory experience in a community college/higher education environment.
  • Proven experience in student crisis management and emergency response.
  • Previous experience working on student issues related to Title IX, specifically with respect to victim advocacy and education.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in strategic planning, fiscal management, resource allocation, and personnel supervision.
  • Clinical Experience, Education, or Expertise in Personal Counseling or Health Services is preferred.
  • Official transcripts are required.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills preferred.
