Medical Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team as a Float Medical Assistant in our Outpatient Services department. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our patients and healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the coordination and management of primary health services by providing float coverage within our Outpatient Services department.
- Perform clerical support duties, including outreach, registration, insurance verification, and maintenance of patient records and files.
- Assist healthcare providers with back office duties, including medication and immunization maintenance and administration, patient rooming, and other tasks associated with the Medical Assistant scope.
- Accurately and efficiently schedule and register patients for clinic visits, including insurance verification and eligibility.
- Monitor and maintain assigned registration work queues daily.
- Foster positive relationships with site and community-based partners by informing them of clinic services.
- Evaluate patient needs and provide access to services via school-based patient registries.
- Assist healthcare providers in setting up for procedures, including aseptic and sterile techniques, and provide safe administration of medications and immunizations.
- Take vital signs and basic historical patient data accurately and efficiently.
- Identify abnormal patient findings and communicate patient concerns or significant changes in patient health status to healthcare providers in a timely manner.
- Prepare patients for examinations, assist with examinations, and perform other medically related tasks within their scope of knowledge.
- Assist with the coordination of clerical information necessary to provide patient care, including referrals and appointment scheduling.
- Post High School Diploma or Certificate Program Required
- Graduate from an accredited program in Medical Office Assisting, Licensed Practical Nursing with an active LPN license, or completion of the 1997 DHHA Health Care Partner internal training program, required.
- Completion of a 160 hour externship or six (6) months direct patient care experience in an outpatient setting, inclusive of phlebotomy, medication administration, and medical/surgical asepsis procedures and techniques, required.
- One year of experience working in school-age student services, preferred.
- DLR-Colorado Driver's License Class R - DMV - Department of Motor Vehicles Required
- BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required
- CMA-Certified Medical Assistant - AAMA - American Association of Medical Assistants Required
- LPN-Licensed Practical Nurse - LPC State Licensing Board Required
