About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accounting Analyst to join our team at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our Accounting team, you will play a critical role in providing financial analysis and reporting to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Extract knowledge and insights from data to investigate, assess, and interpret financial performance and trends.
  • Develop and maintain financial models and forecasts to support business planning and decision-making.
  • Lead treasury management activities, including benefits accounting, to strengthen cash flow, minimize risks, and optimize return on investments.
  • Provide thought leadership and deliver large and intricate accounting changes and projects to enhance user experiences, promote cost efficacy, and mitigate organizational risk.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective and sustainable financial operations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration (with a concentration in Accounting).
  • Minimum 10 years of professional work experience in general accounting.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Master's of Business Administration (MBA) in Accounting.
  • Sophisticated competency and proficiency related to general accounting, GAAP, CAS, FAR standards/regulations, and employee benefit plan accounting.
  • Strong analytical and forecasting skills, with the ability to integrate disparate data across multiple platforms.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to form and sustain trusted relationships across all organizational levels and external partners.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Information Technology.
  • 5 years of experience in a DoD contracting environment.
  • Understanding and sound knowledge of APL business systems, including Oracle General Ledger, Oracle Projects, and Data Warehouse applications.
  • Robust understanding of Indirect Cost Submission.
  • Professional experience with multiple business fields.
  • Sponsored program administration experience.
  • Data Visualization experience with emphasis on Power BI.
