We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of sheltered animals.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct daily rounds of the shelter to monitor animal health and well-being.
- Prepare daily lists of animals requiring veterinary exams and administer medical treatment as prescribed by staff veterinarians.
- Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and emergency medical procedures.
- Perform health checks on animals before adoption and participate in the screening room/receiving area activities.
- Assist with lab work, radiology, and other medical procedures as needed.
- Provide humane care and treatment of all sheltered animals and maintain a clean and sanitary work environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; related experience and/or training preferred.
- Knowledge of Chameleon database software and Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Ability to manage emotional aspects of end-of-life services and support staff in high-emotion circumstances.
- Flexible schedule and availability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
