Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nursing Assistant to join our team at Advocate Health. As a Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist RNs with daily patient care activities, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and ambulation.
  • Measure and document patient data, such as blood pressures, temperatures, and intake/output.
  • Document patient information accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Participate in admission, transfer, and discharge processes under the supervision of RNs.
  • Collect and process patient specimens, and perform point-of-care testing as needed.
  • Perform various patient positioning and transporting duties, including lifting and pushing/pulling while utilizing proper technique and assistive devices.
  • Assist with nutritional needs of patients, including diet review, tray setup/removal, and proper positioning.
  • Ensure special patient supplies and appliances are provided and maintained, such as TED hose and sequential compression devices.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or equivalent required.
  • No experience required, but certification as a Nurse Aide in good standing is necessary.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) must be obtained within 45 days.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, and up to 20 lbs. over the head.
  • Ability to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force, and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
Working Conditions

Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. Must be able to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with RNs and other healthcare professionals. Must be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information.
