We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Analyst II to join our team at the City of Independence, MO. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for performing professional-level accounting work, including the maintenance and analysis of accounting records, preparation of financial reports, and technical and administrative tasks related to financial data processing and reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and analyze accounting records, including financial statements and reports, to ensure accuracy and compliance with governmental accounting principles and City policies.
- Prepare and present financial reports, including budget analyses and variance reports, to management and other stakeholders.
- Perform technical and administrative tasks related to financial data processing and reporting, including data entry, reconciliation, and analysis.
- Develop and implement financial reporting systems and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- At least 4 years of experience with governmental fund accounting principles and practices, enterprise fund or business accounting principles and practices.
- Experience with FERC accounting principles and practices preferred.
- Must have 2 years of experience as an Accountant I or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles as applied to governmental and enterprise funds.
- Knowledge of administrative principles and practices, including setting and meeting goals and deadlines.
- Working knowledge of methods and techniques of research, statistical analysis, and report creation and presentation.
This is a normal office environment, typically quiet.
