Maintenance Planning Coordinator Job Description

CPS Energy is seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Planning Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our operations and maintenance organization, you will play a critical role in improving power generation workforce productivity and work quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage all approved work request notifications from assigned areas.
  • Ensure maintenance work orders are coded correctly and work scope defined.
  • Estimate jobs, including sequence of steps, number of tradespersons, and required labor hours.
  • Coordinate and plan work with other support crafts or business units.
  • Examine jobs to be done, perform job walk-downs, and determine best way to accomplish work.
  • Obtain blueprints, drawings, instructional manuals, and special procedures as needed.
  • Identify and obtain material, parts, and services through SAP component reservations and purchase requisitions process.
  • Ensure safety needs are given top priority in work planning.
  • Maintain work order backlog files waiting for scheduling based on priority.
  • Provide work order packages to assist in work execution.
  • Manage preventive maintenance plans.
  • Follow up to ensure work orders are completed or closed at proper time.
  • Maintain close contact with other planners to ensure coordination of complex multi-skill field and shop jobs.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with operations supervisors and maintenance supervisors.
  • Develop file of standard work orders (plans, packages) for regularly recurring repair jobs.
  • Assist maintenance and operations management in providing reports, analysis of equipment, labor, cost, and history.
  • Make recommendations for system improvement.
  • Maintain necessary records and files and prepare and distribute meaningful and accurate control reports.
Requirements:
  • Electrical, Instrument & Controls, Mechanical or Welding trade background necessary.
  • Adequate trade knowledge depth to estimate job labor hours, materials, or services.
  • Good oral/written communication skills.
  • Good administrative and mathematical skills with willingness to handle paperwork.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to understand what constitutes good instructions.
  • Able to read blueprints, manuals, and shop drawings; and generate rough sketches as needed.
  • Ability to develop multiple job plans and multi-task.
  • Orientation and commitment to excellence and customer service.
  • Style and capability commanding respect within both maintenance and operating organizations.
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, ppt).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Computer skills in SAP PM.
  • Familiar with Primavera and/or PaSta planning and scheduling tool.
  • SAP PM Administrative experience (taxonomy records, failure codes, PM strategies).
  • Experience planning and/or scheduling experience in the power generation industry.
  • General understanding of reliability programs such RCM, FMEA, CBM, PdM.
  • Electrical, Instrument and Controls, Mechanical or Welding trade background experience as a Journeyman in Power Generation.

Working Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

The employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move items up to 100 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work indoors and outdoors in extreme temperatures to the extent of the weather conditions.
