Job Overview


The Controls Systems Engineer is accountable for the design and implementation of technological frameworks that enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs, while ensuring timely and effective deliverables.

In this role, you will analyze client requirements and operational specifications, conducting various diagnostic and troubleshooting assessments to verify output accuracy within budgetary constraints and project management protocols.


Reporting Structure:
This position will report directly to the Facility and Maintenance Manager.

Key Responsibilities


Provide operational support that includes maintenance, fault diagnosis, installation, and modifications to field instruments, process control systems, safety systems, and other electrical and electronic equipment.


Support automated control systems in manufacturing operations, adjusting programs to enhance robotic movements using diverse controllers, and collaborating with vendors and design teams.

Engage in all projects related to automation and controls.


Design technology systems that bolster business operations, enhance productivity, and minimize costs while ensuring efficient and rapid deliverables.


Define functional requirements through stakeholder interviews, documentation analysis, and Workflow Process Mapping (Value Stream Maps).


Utilize expert knowledge and experience to develop technical requirements aimed at improving or implementing complex manufacturing system solutions.


Execute projects focused on the development and implementation of manufacturing system solutions.


Generate manufacturing-based reports and dashboards.


Demonstrate initiative and creativity in problem-solving.


Become a subject matter expert in organizational manufacturing systems.


Oversee technical deliverables throughout the entire lifecycle of manufacturing system projects.


Provide onsite support for all start-ups at internal manufacturing facilities.


Collaborate proactively with stakeholders to identify the optimal technical approach for system solutions.


Engage with internal customers to comprehend plant-centric requirements.


Maintain technical skills and knowledge in a dynamic system and technology environment.


Effectively apply project management methodologies and adhere to project standards.


Regularly report on project progress concerning scope, schedule, cost, and performance.


Assist project sponsors in resolving issues and identifying future opportunities.


Provide ongoing support for existing solutions.

4-6 years of engineering and/or leadership experience in manufacturing is preferred.


A minimum of 3 years of experience with manufacturing systems automation, process control systems, or software development in a manufacturing context is preferred.

Willingness and ability to travel are essential.


Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of key manufacturing processes to develop and execute system strategies.


Ability to diagnose and resolve application-related computing issues both on-site and remotely.


Strong computer skills with the capacity to quickly learn new software and applications.


Project management experience, including initiating, planning, and executing project work.


Experience in developing user requirements and functional specifications for manufacturing solutions.


Ability to effectively influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams.


Exhibits strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a cross-functional organization and lead effectively without direct authority.


Possesses strong communication, presentation, and teamwork skills, including the ability to produce clear and concise technical documentation.


Lean certification or Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification is advantageous.


Prior experience in successfully implementing new equipment launches, such as robotic integration into existing manufacturing processes, is beneficial.
