Dietary Technician

Assist the clinical dietitian in providing Medical Nutrition Therapy to patients/clients. Evaluate patient criteria, develop and implement nutritional care plans, educate patients and families on diet therapy, and ensure menu selections meet nutritional requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process and complete orders for infant formulas according to guidelines and quality control standards.
• Maintain a safe and sanitary environment by following infection control guidelines.
• Use correct technique to measure solids and liquids, and calculate new formulations or standardized recipes.
• Communicate with patient care areas regarding formula orders, storage, or administration.
• Maintain daily records of patient profiles and update computerized patient profiles regarding infant formula orders.
• Inventories and maintains sufficient formula room stock.
• Maintains a daily log of refrigeration and heating equipment temperatures in the formula room.
• Assists in training other employees in formula preparation and handling techniques.

Requirements:

• Associate of Applied Science in Dietetic Technology or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience in Dietetic Technician preferred.
• Registered Dietetic Technician within 1 year preferred.

Work Environment:

Buffalo, NY - Children's Hospital.
