Job Title: Assistant Controller

Vaco is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join our team. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for providing daily updates to our Controller, managing a small team of accounting professionals, and overseeing various financial tasks.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide daily updates to the Controller on financial matters.
  • Manage a small team of accounting professionals, providing daily oversight and guidance.
  • Post daily transfers and ensure accurate financial records.
  • Oversee the quarterly and annual accounting close and financial reporting cycles, including balance sheet and income statement preparation.
  • Prepare financial statements for year-end tax returns.
  • Facilitate funding and transfers, ensuring timely and accurate financial transactions.
  • Assist with real estate tax payments and prepare wire transfers.
  • Review and prepare security deposit account bank reconciliations and bank statement reconciliations.
  • Oversee annual RPIE reporting and prepare cash reporting and cash forecasting.
  • Maintain annual fixed asset schedules for building and tenant improvements.
  • Calculate estimated and actual year-end CAM and real estate tax.
  • Prepare work papers for audit purposes.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 6-8 years of relevant real estate accounting experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience managing a team.
  • Strong time-management, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Excel.
