Truck Operator Trainee

Job Summary:
A Truck Operator Trainee at Waste Management will operate a commercial refuse/recycling vehicle to collect and transport waste. The role involves working with experienced drivers to complete training, follow safety protocols, and improve route efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate vehicles in accordance with Waste Management Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, and DOT requirements.
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles and document checks.
- Immediately report all unsafe situations or service-related issues to Route Managers or Dispatch.
- Participate in scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required.
- Work closely with Route Managers to enhance route efficiencies and identify best practices.
- Notify Route Managers of incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
- Communicate customer requests to Dispatch or Route Managers.
- Completely dump all receptacles and leave the customer's location clean and free of debris.
- Follow route assignments as directed and complete end-of-day documentation and checkout processes.
- Assist other drivers as needed to meet customer needs.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a dynamic environment with varying weather conditions and physical demands. They must be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Salary Information:
The estimated salary for this position is $50,000 - $70,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. This figure is based on industry standards and national averages.
