Job Summary

Emory University is seeking a highly skilled Lead Controls System Technician II to join our team. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for providing technical guidance and support to our Controls System Operating Technicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior technicians in the commissioning and troubleshooting of controls systems.
  • Act as a liaison between the Controls Shop Supervisor and other departments, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of controls system upgrades and modifications.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Monitor and operate the energy management system, identifying areas for improvement and implementing cost-saving measures.
  • Retrofit, troubleshoot, calibrate, repair, and maintain HVAC systems, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and other applicable regulations.
  • Provide preventive maintenance for direct digital, pneumatic, electric, and electronic controls for HVAC systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and schematic drawings, including control prints.
  • Adhere to Emory University's safety protocols and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Seven years of experience with controls systems, including two years of experience with at least one BAS controls software and general knowledge of HVAC systems, or five years of controls experience and completion of a formal controls training program.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and electronics systems.
  • A working knowledge of various computer software applications.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with knowledge of Siemens, Johnson, or ALC controls systems, completion of a HVACR program at a technical or trade school, and/or State of Georgia Conditioned Air Contractors License.
  • A valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Emory University's facilities management systems and procedures.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
