Position Summary

The Patient Service Representative - Float embodies the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial Healthcare, adhering to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program while complying with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

This role is essential in supporting the service area by managing patient check-in and check-out processes. The representative will consistently exhibit outstanding customer service when interacting with patients and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcome patients and guests, confirming their identity and providing necessary information regarding their visit.
  • Execute check-in and check-out procedures as instructed.
  • Verify and update patient identification and demographic/insurance details.
  • Facilitate patient registration as required.
  • Gather patient consents and authorizations.
  • Collect co-payments, outstanding balances, and point-of-service payments.
  • Record payments, manage billing information, and perform end-of-day cash drawer reconciliation.
  • Maintain a clean and comfortable waiting area.
  • Notify patients of any delays or changes in their appointment status.
  • Schedule appointments as needed.
  • For representatives in Immediate Care Clinics, provide support across various ICCs and departments.
  • May undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Up to two years of experience in a customer service role.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Bilingual abilities.
