Budget and Business Analyst

The University of Southern California is seeking a highly skilled Budget and Business Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our Finance Department, you will play a critical role in supporting the administrative components of proposals, overseeing the submission process, and developing project budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with principal investigators to prepare administrative components of proposals
  • Oversee and communicate the submission process, ensuring completeness and compliance
  • Develop, prepare, and finalize project budgets, providing budget justification
  • Serve as a liaison between principal investigators, Office of Sponsored Research, and other departments
  • Review and approve expenditures, advising on post-award spending and commitment activity
  • Develop and communicate reports supporting project status, creating effective forecasting and decision aids
  • Participate in contract closeout process, submitting final reports and certificates

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, or a related field
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in budgeting and financial analysis
  • Strong computer skills, including automated spreadsheets
  • Knowledge of government and fund accounting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 2 years of experience in budgeting and financial analysis
  • University budget experience and knowledge of university financial systems
