San Francisco, California, United States Salesforce Full time
About Salesforce

We're Salesforce, the Customer Company, inspiring the future of business with AI + Data + CRM.

Leading with our core values, we help companies across every industry blaze new trails and connect with customers in a whole new way.

And, we empower you to be a Trailblazer, too — driving your performance and career growth, charting new paths, and improving the state of the world.

If you believe in business as the greatest platform for change and in companies doing well and doing good – you've come to the right place.

Job Description

The Salesforce Cloud Economics and Capacity Management (CECM) team is seeking an experienced Engineering Leader to join our team.

You will be responsible for leading self-organizing engineering teams to build breakthrough features that our internal customers will love, adopt, and use – all while ensuring stable and scalable applications.

You will partner with engineers, product managers, internal customers, data scientists, and architects to innovate and deliver analytics solutions using Big Data, Backend, and Visualization technologies.

You'll develop modern, lean, self-governing product engineering teams that ensure Capacity Availability for Salesforce users and efficient, responsible use of Salesforce infrastructure resources.

Our organization develops intelligent, data-driven products that enable Salesforce Engineers, Capacity Planners, and executives to identify, triage, and remediate infrastructure cost and utilization incidents at Salesforce scale across multiple cloud providers (1st Party and Public Cloud).

We apply advanced machine learning techniques to turn the petabytes of data generated by our global infrastructure into actionable predictions and business insights used by capacity planners, internal service owners, and technical leaders daily.

As an internal products team, engineers are expected to directly interact with customers to develop requirements and design, release, and maintain distributed systems with visibility throughout Salesforce.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about developing self-organizing teams, championing development of engineers, and building scalable, resilient engineering services.

Your Impact

Drive the execution and delivery of features by collaborating with many cross-functional teams, architects, product owners, and engineers.

Partner with Product Management to align with objectives, priorities, tradeoffs, and risk.

Develop self-organizing, engaged, and high-performing engineering teams. Ensure the teams have clear priorities and adequate resources.

Facilitate critical decisions that drive the success of internal platforms and products.

Be a multiplier and have a passion for team and team members' success. Provide technical guidance, career development, and mentoring to team members, including senior engineers and engineering managers.

Advocate for technical excellence, participating in architecture discussions and planning with internal and external engineering teams.

Lead by example, setting the standard Salesforce Values of Trust, Customer Success, Innovation, Equality, and Sustainability.

Personally contribute improvements to technology, processes, and products within the team's scope, proactively foreseeing and resolving issues before they happen.

Desired Skills

A related technical degree is required.

5+ years of experience managing high-performing software engineering teams.

10+ years of personal experience delivering highly trusted engineering services and products.

Interest in leading globally distributed teams, with prior experience hiring and mentoring distributed engineers and engineering managers.

Experience leading distributed systems, primarily big data analytics products and backend microservices. Prior ML engineering experience is preferred.

Compelling verbal and written communication skills with both internal stakeholders and external customers.

Ability to be flexible and proactive, driving clarity while working with minimal or ambiguous specifications.

Experience with agile release cycles, driving excellence across the full software development lifecycle, and experience working on products and operations for internal consumption.

Proven record driving software engineering best practices including coding standards, code reviews, source code management, continuous integration, build processes, testing, and operations.

Experience with Agile development methodologies, including Scrum lead experience.
