Job Summary

Houston Methodist West Hospital is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Vascular Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine diagnostic and vascular ultrasound procedures, including common and special ultrasound exams of moderate complexity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including common and special ultrasound exams, to capture high-quality images of patients' internal structures.
  • Assist physicians with diagnostic and special procedures, including sterile technique, to ensure optimal patient care and safety.
  • Provide accurate explanations and instructions to patients and family members, utilizing verbal and non-verbal skills, terminology, and language.
  • Collaborate with the patient care team to ensure comprehensive care and adhere to ultrasound exam standards and guidelines established by governing agencies.
  • Participate in department projects and shared governance activities to promote growth and development as a Technologist.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated below.
  • RDMS-OB, RDMS-AB, RDMS-BR, ARRT-SON, ARRT-VS, RVS, RVT, or BLS certification within 18 months.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.
  • Basic computer knowledge and ability to operate multiple computer systems, including Hospital/Radiology Information Systems and Office software.
