Job Title: Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Maternal Fetal Medicine

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our Maternal Fetal Medicine team at Pediatrix Medical Group. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality diagnostic ultrasound services to our patients.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound tests for patients in the Maternal Fetal Medicine setting.
  • Work independently and with other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care to pregnant women.
  • Acquire anatomical, pathological, and/or physiological data for interpretation by a physician.
  • Maintain patient charts and records, and record/process sonographic data and other pertinent observations made during the procedure for presentation to the interpreting physician.
  • Create a preliminary report for physician review/signature.
  • Review studies with physicians.
  • Assist physician with procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.
  • Code appropriate for services performed.
  • Maintain proper operation of the ultrasound equipment.
  • Recognize equipment malfunctions and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Maintain laundry for examination rooms.
  • Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of ultrasound supplies.
  • Follow the accredited laboratory protocols for obtaining two-dimensional images, color flow, Doppler, and m-mode where applicable.
  • Follow and comply with universal precautions and OSHA standards.
  • Follow and comply with safety and security training.
  • Rotate as needed to cover Sonographer absences.
  • Perform related and other assigned duties as directed.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum six months experience as an ultrasound technician working in OB/GYN and/or MFM setting preferred.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Skilled in operating ultrasound equipment.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited sonography program with a degree in ultrasonography or equivalent.
  • ARDMS OB/GYN certified or eligible.
  • Fetal echo certification or eligible to obtain with 12 months of hire. Fetal echo experience preferred or will be provided.
  • Completion of a program containing OB/GYN ultrasonography.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Satisfactory completion of one of the following; at least two (2) years in Allied Health Educational Program and one (1) year on-the-job-training in ultrasonography, or completion of an approved ultrasonography educational program.
  • Maintain or be eligible for certification as an American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS).
  • Must provide evidence of continuing education credits to fulfill accreditation requirements.
