We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Specialist to join our team at Mille Lacs Health System. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient service, ensuring accurate and efficient registration and admission processes, and coordinating provider scheduling.
Key Responsibilities- Schedule patient appointments with the most appropriate provider, place, and time
- Accurately complete the appointment process in accordance with policies and procedures
- Verify patient information for accuracy and completeness
- Provide monthly reporting as requested from scheduling reports
- Monitor and update provider schedules as needed
- Acknowledge, greet, and direct patients and visitors
- Register patients at the time of visit
- Operate the switchboard to relay incoming and outgoing calls and pages
- Act as the information source for all service areas
- Provide specialist and primary patients with reminder calls prior to scheduled appointments
- Accept billing payments and direct billing questions to the financial representative
- High school diploma or GED required
- At least 2 years of post-secondary training in a healthcare-related field or equivalent experience
- At least 1 year of experience working with the general public, preferably in a healthcare setting
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Broad range of medical terminology knowledge
- Ability to work in a team setting
- Possession of attention to detail, organization, and prioritization skills
- Computer skills including Word, Internet, PowerPoint, and Excel
