Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Substitute Nurse to join our team at Hays Consolidated Independent School District. As a Substitute Nurse, you will provide nursing care and support to students in our schools, working collaboratively with our Health Services team and campus staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care and support to students in our schools, including administering medications, performing health screenings, and providing emergency care as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with our Health Services team and campus staff to ensure the health and well-being of our students.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, students, and staff to ensure seamless care and support.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student health information, including immunization records and medical histories.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in school nursing and health services.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program.
  • Valid Registered Nurse or Vocational Nurse license to practice nursing in Texas from the State Board of Nurse Examiners.
  • Preferred - Certified by Texas Department of Health to conduct hearing and vision screenings.
  • Healthcare Provider CPR certification by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Minimum of two years professional nursing experience, preferably in pediatric nursing, school nursing, or community health.
Working Conditions

This position requires frequent standing, sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. The employee may be required to lift and carry light to heavy objects, and may be exposed to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases.
