Job Summary

The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a manufacturing facility, ensuring that production goals are met while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement manufacturing plans to meet budgeted unit costs and output objectives.
  • Coordinate activities across all manufacturing functional areas to ensure continuity and meet customer quality requirements.
  • Review and approve standard operating procedures (SOPs) for production processes.
  • Sustain production capacity aligned with sales volume requirements and develop contingency plans as needed.
  • Develop and track annual operating budgets to measure progress towards objectives.
  • Stay up-to-date on production methods, formulations, analytical techniques, and federal regulations related to the company's products.
  • Develop action plans for improvement and maintain/improve the quality of plant assets.
  • Recruit, develop, coach, and lead personnel, establishing training and development programs.
  • Create a team-based environment encouraging open communication and seeking input on production, safety, and quality issues.
  • Implement and manage safety and regulatory programs to ensure long-term safe operation of the facility.
  • Work with Purchasing and Quality Assurance to establish quality specifications for incoming raw materials.
  • Assist Quality Assurance in developing new products/processes and improving current products/processes.
  • Establish procedures and supervise experimental and test runs, reporting results.
  • Manage inventory of off-spec materials and schedule reworking of products as needed.
  • Maintain and improve production log data and implement OEE systems.
  • Work with operations to maximize OEE through World Class, Six Sigma, and other appropriate tools.
  • Maintain formulation data systems and enter new product formulations.
  • Maintain history files on all products, including formulation, product standard, label, and packaging.
  • Ensure facility compliance with state and federal requirements for food-grade products.
  • Maintain effective communication with government agencies.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the community and manage Business Development Managers and Customer Service.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • 10 years of previous management experience in a food-grade operation.
  • Background in liquid process and evaporation a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
