About the Role

Community Health Program Inc is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team at the Great Barrington Dental Center. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our dentists and dental hygienists in delivering high-quality dental services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist dentists with instruments, seating patients, room preparation, and instrument cleaning.
  • Greet patients upon arrival, escort patients from the waiting room to the treatment room.
  • Take patient vitals and records for dentist evaluation.
  • Take dental intra-oral and radiographs.
  • Gather patient medical history for dentist review and final documentation.
  • Document patient current medicines, medical conditions, and pre-med if needed.
  • Document patient blood pressure, weight, and smoking status.
  • Call in prescriptions as directed by the dentist.
  • Provide chair-side assistance during procedures as directed by the attending dentist.
  • Perform lab tasks, including denture and crown preparation.
  • Ensure lab cases for the next day have arrived from the lab.
  • Set up, break, and wipe down treatment rooms between patients.
  • Clean, check, sterilize dental instruments, flush water lines, and maintain autoclaves.
  • Help with tracking and ordering supplies.
  • Follow all safety protocols set forth by Community Health Program Inc, Department of Public Health, and OSHA.
  • Answer phones and assist the front desk.
  • Schedule new and established patient appointments as needed.
  • May collect patient co-pay, deductibles, and treatment payments when applicable.
  • Relieve and step in for the receptionist when needed.
  • May be responsible for opening and closing the front door of the office at the start and end of the day.
  • Confirm patient appointments for the upcoming days.
  • Inform the Dental Center Practice Manager of any irregular procedures observed by a patient or companion while in the waiting area or during the intake process.
  • Observe and cooperate with the security of the dental center at all times.
  • Flexible schedule including some Saturday hours.
  • Flexible to assist at other sites as requested.
Requirements
  • High school or GED.
  • Must be listed with the State of Massachusetts as a Registered Dental Assistant.
  • Front desk reception experience is a plus.
  • DANB certification is required.
  • Maintain a current CPR license.
