The Infection Prevention Specialist will be responsible for evaluating the quality of resident care and outcomes related to healthcare-associated infections. Key responsibilities include:

  • Collecting, tracking, and analyzing data on antibiotic usage and infection rates.
  • Presenting findings and making informed recommendations for improvement.
  • Monitoring compliance with infection prevention protocols among staff.
  • Developing and delivering educational programs for healthcare personnel.
  • Implementing initiatives to safeguard the health of employees, residents, and visitors.
  • Formulating and revising policies aimed at preventing adverse health events.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Participating in the facility's Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program.

Additionally, the Infection Prevention Specialist will:

  • Conduct ongoing assessments of infection prevention practices.
  • Prepare agendas for infection prevention committee meetings.
  • Consult with healthcare professionals to enhance care quality.
  • Report communicable diseases to appropriate agencies as mandated.
  • Engage in performance improvement activities and antibiotic stewardship initiatives.

To qualify, candidates should possess:

  • A professional background in nursing, medical technology, microbiology, epidemiology, or a related field.
  • Relevant education, training, and certification in infection prevention and control.
  • Strong teaching and clinical evaluation skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications pertinent to the role.
