Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Artesia General Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for assessing and providing necessary treatment for patients with respiratory and cardiac difficulties.

Essential Functions
  • Draw blood for arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis and operate related equipment.
  • Perform electrocardiogram (EKG), synchronized ventilation (SVN) treatments, and bi-level positive airway pressure (BiPAP)/continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy.
  • Administer oxygen therapy and medications as prescribed.
  • Provide and maintain ventilation equipment, ensuring optimal patient care.
  • Evaluate patients using auscultation, oxygen saturation (SAO2) readings, and oral interview techniques.
  • Assist with intubations and perform outpatient studies as needed.
  • Participate in patient education and maintain accurate records of patient care.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Requires thorough knowledge of the cardiopulmonary system.
  • Skills as required for Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) licensure.
  • Demonstrates basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs.
  • Treats all information and data with appropriate confidentiality and security.
  • Cooperates fully in risk management, quality management, and safety activities.
Minimum Position Qualifications
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited respiratory program recognized by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC).
  • Work Experience: N/A
  • Training: Per licensure requirements.
  • License/Certification: Current State of New Mexico CRT and/or RRT licensure, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications.
Environmental Conditions

Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood and other body fluids.
