Role Summary
The Clinical Nursing Coordinator exhibits advanced knowledge and proficiency in the field of Neurosurgery and Spine procedures. This role requires anticipating the needs of both the surgeon and the patient throughout each surgical process. The coordinator must possess a comprehensive understanding of the etiology, procedural details, and the specific instruments utilized in Neurosurgery and Spine operations. Continuous education on emerging techniques is essential, as is the mentorship of nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in surgical cases, providing support to the surgeon while also guiding new staff through procedures.
- Ensure all necessary equipment is prepared and functional prior to surgeries.
- Oversee the management of surgical equipment and inventory, ensuring that supplies are adequately stocked for each case.
- Collaborate with management to effectively schedule surgical cases and coordinate nursing staff.
- Engage with Sterile Processing, Materials Management, and Vendors to facilitate upcoming surgical needs.
Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in the State of Florida.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
- Current BLS/CPR certification (American Heart Association or equivalent).
- Certification in Operating Room Nursing (CNOR) is preferred.
Experience Requirements
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in an Operating Room setting, particularly in general, Neurosurgery, and Spine surgery.
