About the Role:

The Senior Facilities Engineer plays a crucial role in providing engineering expertise, guidance, and project oversight for all aspects of facilities management, systems, and infrastructure that support our manufacturing, laboratory, and office environments.

This position requires collaboration across various departments to design, construct, commission, qualify, and maintain controlled environments and facilities systems essential for manufacturing operations. You will lead cross-disciplinary projects related to facilities infrastructure.


Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and optimize facilities equipment layouts to enhance operational efficiency and maximize utilization.
  • Review and estimate design costs, including equipment, installation, labor, and materials.
  • Develop performance specifications and criteria for facilities infrastructure and equipment to meet operational needs and comply with safety regulations.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance.
  • Coordinate with architecture and engineering firms to establish design criteria and prepare detailed layouts and drawings.
  • Oversee the commissioning and qualification of controlled environments and bulk systems utilized in medical device manufacturing.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of all infrastructure supporting manufacturing and laboratory operations.
  • Prepare bid sheets and contracts for construction projects to facilitate a competitive bidding process.
  • Collaborate effectively across functions to provide informed project recommendations.
  • Manage construction projects within strict timelines and budget constraints.
  • Direct inspections of construction and installation progress to ensure adherence to established specifications and schedules.
  • Gather and analyze data regarding facility or equipment specifications, regulatory restrictions, completion timelines, and construction feasibility.
  • Assist in scheduling and planning preventative maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate shutdowns of manufacturing areas for necessary updates, modifications, and critical maintenance.
  • Ensure quality compliance of controlled areas and systems in accordance with FDA regulations and industry standards.
  • Create systematic assessments ranging from high-level budget reviews to detailed design evaluations.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines.
  • Experience in a large organizational setting working across various departments.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience managing complex engineering design projects.
  • Ability to simplify complex topics into clear, concise summaries.
  • Familiarity with LEAN manufacturing principles.
  • Proven leadership skills without direct authority.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience in qualifying facilities infrastructure for medical device manufacturing.
  • Proven track record in driving and managing process changes.
