The University of Southern California is seeking a highly skilled Research Investment Manager to join our team. As a key member of our investment team, you will be responsible for identifying and securing investments for USC companies, promoting synergies and eliminating redundancies, and facilitating the translation and commercialization of intellectual property.
Key Responsibilities- Investment Identification and Securing: Work closely with USC inventors to obtain venture capital or corporate investments in USC companies.
- Strategic Partnerships: Target corporate venture capital units as strategic limited partners in specific market sectors, facilitating due diligence and potential post-investment relationships.
- Mergers and Acquisitions: Collaborate with the USC AMI Investment Director to facilitate M&A activities for USC companies supported by AMI funding.
- Research Program Funding: Obtain funding for USC research programs that lead to the creation of new USC companies.
- Interdepartmental Collaboration: Interact, partner, and coordinate with various USC departments, incubators, venture funds, and offices to drive innovation and growth.
- Education: Bachelor's degree (Master's or Doctorate preferred)
- Experience: 5 years of work experience (7 years preferred)
- Skills: Comprehensive understanding of capital markets, investment theory, and ability to apply knowledge to portfolio management strategies.
- Case Studies: Detailed descriptions of significant investments or deals managed, including challenges faced and outcomes achieved.
- Investment Thesis: A document outlining your approach to identifying investment opportunities and evaluating potential investments.
- Strategic Plan: A brief outline of your proposed strategy for raising capital for related businesses.
- Performance Metrics: Quantitative data demonstrating past performance in terms of ROI, successful exits, or other relevant metrics.
The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to USC's Unifying Values of integrity, excellence, diversity, equity, and inclusion, well-being, open communication, and accountability.
CompensationThe annual base salary range for this position is $212,000 - $240,000.
