About This Role

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Nurse to join our team at University Medical Center, a world-class academic medical center in LCMC Health's community of care. As a key member of our surgical team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support during operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for surgery, reviewing their medical history and providing personalized care and support.
  • Administer medications, position patients correctly, and monitor vital signs throughout the procedure.
  • Perform required clinical documentation and post-operative assessments to ensure seamless care continuity.
  • Maintain a safe environment, adhering to Joint Commission infection control and environment of care requirements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to identify and meet patient needs, ensuring efficient throughput and consistent communication.
  • Educate patients and families on post-operation care, empowering them to take an active role in their recovery.

Requirements:

  • Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana, as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Preferred: operating room experience.
