This is a senior research scientist position in the Department of Infectious Diseases, College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Georgia.
Key Responsibilities- Lead animal studies in compliance with the Guide and OLAW regulations.
- Develop and pursue approval with the institutional IACUC.
- Work closely with Prof. Frederick Quinn (PI) and assist him with grant writing.
- Pursue extramural funding and develop and sustain an independent research program.
- Train the next-generation of mycobacteriologists.
- Contribute to training and teaching graduate-level courses in the department.
- Serve as graduate thesis committee member.
- Collaborate with other PIs within the Emory/Georgia TRAC program.
- Ph.D., D.V.M., or M.D. or equivalent degree(s).
- More than 15 years of research experience with mycobacterial species.
- Focus on pathogenesis, transmission, biomarker characterization for diagnostics and vaccine development, drug discovery studies, and working with a variety of animal models in an ABSL-3 environment.
