Job Overview

Position Summary for Facility Maintenance Specialist

The primary role of the Facility Maintenance Specialist is to uphold the cleanliness and organization of various environments within our establishment. This position encompasses a range of maintenance tasks that include, but are not limited to, cleaning, organizing, and sanitizing all designated areas such as offices, living quarters, kitchens, dining areas, restrooms, storage spaces, staircases, windows, outdoor facilities, and other assigned locations.

Work Schedule: Typical hours are from 7 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

Essential functions of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting general custodial tasks, including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, sanitizing, carpet care, and replenishing paper and soap supplies.
  • Disposing of waste appropriately by emptying trash receptacles.
  • Reporting maintenance needs and concerns to relevant personnel, which may involve submitting requests through a computerized system.
  • Performing routine upkeep of cleaning equipment.
  • Ensuring safe and proper usage of custodial tools while promoting ongoing improvements in workplace safety.
  • Assisting in the training of new staff on standard procedures.
  • Participating in snow removal efforts and minor building maintenance tasks such as touch-up painting and light bulb replacements.
  • Mixing cleaning solutions and chemicals according to manufacturer guidelines, utilizing only approved and properly labeled containers.
  • Managing inventory levels of cleaning supplies effectively.
  • Carrying out additional job-related tasks as assigned, supporting the overall strategic objectives of the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a valid state-issued driver's license in good standing.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in routine custodial work.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate in the English language.
  • Capability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively.
  • Proficiency in accessing and utilizing computer applications, including email and work order systems.
  • Ability to use mobile applications for accessing organizational programs.
