Juvenile Reporting Center Counselor

Villa of Hope is a leading organization in providing support and services to youth and families in need. We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Juvenile Reporting Center Counselor to join our team.

Job Summary

The JRC Counselor will provide quality care and supervision for clients assigned to the JRC program, carrying out treatment plans designed for each client. This role requires a strong commitment to the Agency's Mission, Vision, Values, Guiding Principles, and Strategic Plan.

Key Responsibilities
  • Exercise full compliance with the Agency's Code of Conduct, all Agency Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security for all client and staff-related materials and/or records.
  • Direct clients in the daily routine of the JRC Program.
  • Provide individual and group supervision to clients in care and account for all in their care at all times.
  • Participate in the cleaning and upkeep of the JRC facility.
  • Prepare meals on time, carefully following menu plans.
  • Uphold all rules and structure within the JRC Program.
  • Set behavioral limits for clients within the JRC Program.
  • Apply approved crisis intervention/prevention techniques utilizing accepted practices per Agency policy and procedures.
  • Assist program supervisor and case manager in life skills and/or psycho-educational groups for youth in the program.
  • Transport clients to and from program activities.
  • Assist recreation staff to develop weekly recreation activity calendar and support the youth while participating in the activities.
  • Maintain daily and group logs for each client.
  • Complete daily progress notes into the NYS CONNECTIONS data base system.
  • Complete a weekly summary on each youth and submit to Probation.
  • Serve as the primary counselor to designated youth determined by the supervisor.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required. Associates degree in the human services field preferred.
  • One year of child care experience is preferred.
Special Skills
  • Must be able to work evenings.
  • Possesses a valid NYS driver's license in good standing.
  • Comfortable with community-based work with high-risk youth.
